Student Achievement Coaching

Self-Directed Learning (SDL) coaches help students develop the skills necessary to succeed. Coaches help students organize their busy lives in and out of school, stay on top of their work, develop goals, and ultimately, thrive. By working with SDL coaches, students develop habits of behavior that build autonomy and sustainable success. Students achieve their goals, parents have less conflict with their kids over school and homework,  everyone wins.

What is a Self-Directed Learner?

Self-Directed Learners develop specific, authentic goals and organize their work around those goals. A Self-Directed Learner derives their motivation internally, based on confidence and a sense of purpose.

How It Works

Coaches use short, high-frequency one-on-one meetings with students to diagnose and troubleshoot key inhibitors to success. In the first few weeks, coaches will typically meet with students 3 times a week for roughly 30 minutes

Coaches and students work together to create a customized planning tool unique to each student's strengths, challenges, grade level, school schedule, and out-of-school commitments.

Students and coaches track productivity, completed assignments, and adjust work plans appropriately. Coaches help students manage their sleep, nutrition, study environment, distractions and device usage.

Using proprietary, student-centered planning tools and software, Coaches help students set daily, weekly, and semester goals, and create step-by-step work plans that lead to durable success.

Self Motivated

By working with SDL coaches, students develop a cycle of success that fuels confidence and builds internal motivation.

Organized

Coaches help students organize their lives in and out of school, create work plans, set priorities, and track completion.

Sustainable Success

Coaches work with students to create controllable goals and build incremental habits which lead to lifelong skills for success in and out of school.

Our program takes on average three semesters to complete.

Who are your coaches?

Our coaches are comprised of veteran educators and Ivy-League students.

Is SDL coaching right for my child?

We find that students in early highschool are best fit to get the maximum benefit from our program, however, we have several successful students that fall outside of this range. Most importantly, we look for students that want to improve.

If your child has a diagnosed learning disability or other psychological disorder, we are not the right fit.

“I’m usually all over him, but I completely forgot his grades were coming out until he came down the stairs with sunglasses on blasting music. We started laughing and asked what was going, he said ‘it’s party time’ and showed us his report card."
